Noir Beauté: The Face Oil Edit

It's that time of year where the weather is all over the place and days can be heating up while nights get freezing! I always have to make sure my skin stays hydrated no matter what Mother Nature throws my way -- and the one way I can ensure that happens is by using face oils. I recently fell in love with them once I was able to wrap my head around the fact that no, these would not make me break out. I like that you can layer them with other products as well without it all feeling too heavy on your face. So without further ado, I present to you...

This was my 'gateway oil' and what got me interested in face oils in the first place. I was having a chat with one of the sales associates in the store downtown and he was absolutely raving about what it did for his skin. Sales pitch aside, I decided to go for it and haven't looked back! Here's what Sephora has to say about it: "Seaberry oil, also known as seabuckthorn oil, is a powerful antioxidant rich in moisturizing omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9, noted for protecting the skin from aging free radicals."

It's one of my favorites and would be higher on the list but they get docked points due to the fact that they test on animals. Boo, hiss! (Please know, while their site states that they do not test on animals, they will if required by law. China requires all beauty products sold in their country to have certification of animal testing and since Fresh has multiple stores in China, well, you can put two and two together.) But that's another post for another day :)

4. Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil

I love the smell of roses and anything from Korres' Wild Rose collection always makes me immediately feel at peace. I love their Black Pine collection as well for its firming capabilities but the scent of the wild rose wins me over every time. This has a bit of a heavier feel on my face than the other oils I use but it's only barely noticeable. Otherwise, this is a fantastic day oil! But don't take my word for it -- here's what Sephora has to say about the oil: "his ultra-concentrated vitamin C oil is rich in omega 3, 6, 9, fatty acids, and vitamins A and C. It provides significant antioxidant action while repairing the look of fine lines and wrinkles and improving skin's overall tone and texture."

3. Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil

Milk Makeup is a relatively newer brand and it's already gaining a lot of traction amongst the beauty-obsessed. As an added bonus, the brand is cruelty-free and claim that over 70% of their products are vegan (YES!). So obviously I HAD to try this! Either the name of the product is totally clouding (brightening?) my judgment or it's actually true but this literally feels like sunshine in a bottle. Not to mention this is for use from head to toe and it's dispensed as a rollerball so it's super easy to apply (aka no drippy, oily hands!)

2. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil

This limited-ingredient oil is formulated without all the nasty other fillers, etc. that other products may have. This also gets my stamp of approval for being cruelty-free and animal product-free. Plus, the 4.6/5 rating on Sephora doesn't hurt either!

1. Herbivore Orchid Youth Preserving Facial Oil

This rightfully gets my #1 spot since I always have it within arm's reach at home. I use this during the day and at night and my face has been blissfully ignorant about the awful dry weather we've been having. I haven't tried their other face oils but they all have rave reviews online. I'm picky about the way my beauty products smell (I can blame my dad, a food and fragrance chemist) and I'm not 100% in love with the scent of jasmine. Everyone else in their right mind loves jasmine though, so don't let my pickiness deter you!
